An Irish love knot is a sign of eternal love bound by time and change.
The love knot is often given as a sign of friendship as well as a sign of love. It is an endless line of silver with no beginning and no end.

The Shamrock is the symbol of Ireland. A tiny three leaf sprig of the clover family. First seen as a metaphor for the holy Trinity by the patron saint of Ireland, St Patrick.
As long ago as the 18th century, the Shamrock, has been considered a sign for luck and wearing a Shamrock is said to bring the wearer good luck.
The Claddagh is a Celtic ring that denotes friendship, loyalty and love. There are 3 stories told of the origin of the ring. The most likly one is the story told about Robert Joyce of Galway, Irland.
Joyce, a fisherman, set sail for the Wst Indies about 1684. The ship was over taken and Joyce became a slave sold to a Moorish goldsmith. He never forgot his love, Margaret, back in Ireland and hoped she was waiting for him.
After six long years, King William III of England, ordered all West Indies slaves freed. Joyce returned to Ireland and found Margaret waiting for him. During the time that he had worked as an assistant goldsmith Joyce had made a ring for his love.
The ring became known as the Claddagh and was the ring given at their marriage. Today, the ring is woren for many reasons - if woren on the right hand with the crown down it is said the wearer is looking for love - if the ring is woren on the left hand with the crown up the wearer is in a permanent relationship or married.
